Artemy was a great-nephew of the great Russian traveler N.N. Miklukho-Maklai and a grandson of his brother Mikhail Miklukh . He was married to Vera Dmitrievna Chekhovich. The scientist's father died in besieged Leningrad on January 2, 1942.

Biography

Artemy Dmitrievich - a professional geologist, studied in Leningrad , in LGI (Mining Institute). Then he worked in the Far East, and after returning to the northern capital he taught at his native university.

He participated in the Winter War with Finland. In 1941, he again left to work in the Far East , but with the beginning of the Second World War he returned to Leningrad and went to the front as a volunteer (although he had a reservation as an employee of Dalstroy ). He was captured in October 1941, seriously injured in shelling; Until April 1945, he was in various prisoner-of-war camps in the Baltic states, and then in Austria. At the very end of the war he fled from the camp, went to his own - but was arrested by SMERSH and sentenced to 10 years in camps .

In conclusion and after him, he worked in Vorkuta , Komi and the Polar Urals, specializing in Pechrugleggeology, and was engaged in scientific activities. He made a great contribution to the scientific and practical development of the Vorkuta coal basin [1] , geological exploration and the study of glaciation, and in the camp he analyzed rock samples collected in the Polar and Subpolar Urals. Released on December 31, 1954. In 1954–55 he was seriously ill, but was put on his feet by Vorkuta doctors. In the 1950s and 1970s, he explored vast territories in the north (in particular, along the Kozhim and Lemve rivers), led parties and expeditions, and also worked in the Ukhta region. Published a book "Erupt rocks of the Pechora coal basin" (1965).

In 1957 he was rehabilitated. In his declining years he returned to Leningrad. He died in 1980 or 1981 .
