Biography
Born April 1, 1965 in Odessa . In 1987 he graduated from the Yeisk Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots named after V.M. Komarov , after which he served as a pilot, senior pilot, flight commander, deputy squadron commander, squadron commander, deputy regiment commander, regiment commander, base commander of the 1st 1st discharge.
In 1994 he graduated from the Air Force Academy. Yu.A. Gagarin . Participated in hostilities in the Chechen Republic , performed several dozen sorties.
In August 2008, he participated in an armed conflict in South Ossetia as the commander of the 368th assault air regiment stationed in Budennovsk . He personally flew on sorties. During one of the attacks of a Georgian military convoy south of Tskhinval, a rocket from a portable anti-aircraft missile system hit the left engine of its Su-25 SM , after which Colonel Kobylash removed the damaged aircraft from the battle and turned to his airfield. However, over the southern outskirts of the city, exactly the same rocket disabled the right engine of the aircraft, as a result of which the attack aircraft lost traction. In emergency conditions, Colonel Kobylash did everything so that his war machine did not collapse on civilians and, risking his life, took her as far away from the city as possible. As a result, the plane crashed and exploded in a deserted mountain gorge, and the pilot managed to eject at the last moment and landed in the Georgian enclave. After some time, the search and rescue group managed to find and evacuate it by helicopter. The attack aircraft of Colonel Kobylash was one of six Russian aircraft shot down during an operation to force Georgia to peace [3] .
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 5, 2008 , for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty, Colonel Sergei Ivanovich Kobylash was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation . On December 23, 2008, at the ceremony in the Kremlin, a special distinction was awarded - the Golden Star medal [4] [5] .
After the end of the armed conflict, he continued to serve in the Air Force . He served as head of the department of operational-tactical and army aviation of the Air Force High Command, deputy chief of aviation of the Air Force.
In 2012, Colonel Kobylash graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .
February 23, 2012 participated in a meeting of the President of the Russian Federation D. A. Medvedev with the creators of the film “August. Eighth ” and by veterans of military operations in South Ossetia. During the meeting, he gave the film a positive assessment, separately noting its truthfulness and collective images:
“I really believe that the images are collective, and they showed strength. In the main character, I saw the strength of spirit of our people. In the main character, I saw the strength of our weapons. In those decisions that were adopted by our leadership, I saw that purposeful and correct policy that was chosen in order to carry out these actions and prevent aggression against a peaceful state.
And indeed, as my friend said, maybe this film should have been done a little earlier, so that people really understood that we were protecting civilians. And not in the way the idea was initially imposed on us that it was as if the Russian state had committed aggression. In fact, it was exactly as shown in the film that Georgia attacked a peaceful people, a peaceful country. ”
