Before the match

The Slovak team of referees was invited to serve the match, led by experienced referee Lyubos Michel

Before the match, Mircea Lucescu faced personnel problems. One of Shakhtar’s key players, Matuzalem , was injured in a previous match in Kiev, and Jadson could not help the team due to disqualification in connection with yellow card exhaustion. Their places on the field were taken by Elano and Fernandinho. Anatoly Demyanenko did not have such problems, however, drawing conclusions from the confrontation four days ago, when Dynamo lost the championship, winning 2-0 in the course of the meeting with Shakhtar, the coach decided to make permutations in the composition, leaving Nesmachny, Belkevich and Milevsky on the bench .

Match progress

The match was held in a tense struggle, however, in the first half, defense prevailed over the attack and there were no dangerous moments, but a minor territorial advantage was on the side of Shakhtar. With the beginning of the second half of the match, both teams began to act more aggressively. In the 60th minute, after the attack by Shakhtar, with the participation of Elano and Marika, the ball 2 times hits the post, after which it again ends up with Elano, who beats El Cadduri and gives a soft serve to Chiprian Marika's head, who redirects the ball into the goal. Having conceded a goal Dynamo went ahead. At the 68th minute, Demyanenko went all-in, releasing striker Milevsky instead of defender Yeshchenko, and Lucescu strengthened his defense by releasing Duly instead of Elano. Dynamo created moment by moment, Gusev and Milevsky dangerously pierced. In the 80th minute, Rodolfo got the ball in the Shakhtar penalty area and shot into the corner farthest from Shust, equalizing the score. Until the end of normal time, Dynamo had a few more dangerous moments, but Michel's whistle recorded a draw after 90 minutes.

With the start of extra time, the game leveled off, dangerous moments arose at both gates. In the 100th minute, a serve by Fernandinho from the corner closed the ball by Julius Agahova. Having conceded the ball, Dynamo went ahead again, having missed some dangerous moments (in particular, Rodolfo hit his head dangerously in the last minute of the match, but missed the target), but the score remained unchanged. Shakhtar won this match, becoming the third time (second time in a row) the champion of Ukraine.
