Biography
Born May 21, 1910 in the city of Saratov .
In the ranks of the Red Army in 1932-1936 and 1942-1945. Member of World War II on the Voronezh, Steppe and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts.
In September 1943, Soviet troops reached the Dnieper River. The infantry and observation posts of the commanders are located on the west bank after successfully crossing the river . Artillery remained in the east. Radio communication was unstable and could not provide the required level of communication for fire control. Under enemy fire, Ufimtsev laid a wire line through the Dnieper. Efficiency improved and enemy attacks were repelled.
The title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal was awarded on February 22, 1944 "for valor and courage shown during the crossing of the Dnieper."
He died on July 14, 1983.
