Location
The village is located in a picturesque area along the banks of the Tala River, 35 km north of the district center. Near the village there is a road that connects it with the nearest settlements: the village of Cheldaevo and the village of Prolomikha [1] . The height of the center of the village is 158 m.
Title
The origin of the name of the village currently does not have an exact explanation. One of the versions that exists among local Tatars is humorous in nature and explains the name of the village from the Tatar word "Islamas" - a non-working, idler. We are inclined to believe that the name of the village is connected with something else, for example, the name of a river or locality. For example, in the “Topographical Description of Simbirsk Governorate” there are such lines: “... The Canadian district borders the Karsunsky and Tagaysky to the north ..... The rivers in the Canadian district are as follows: ........ 17th. Slemas, leaves the fields, flows to the north and after 10 versts flows into the river Sura ... "
