Biography

Born October 15, 1892 (old style) in the family of a wealthy blacksmith at the station Likhoslavl of the Tver province. He studied at the two-year school of Likhoslavl, the Tver Real School (since 1904), at the economic department of the Polytechnic Institute in St. Petersburg (1910-1913), from which he was expelled for participation in political activities. He wrote poems with 12 years old, the first publication took place in the " Tver newspaper " ( 1909 , August 30 ).

“I didn’t have to work in the specialty ...”, Kozyrev notes in his autobiography. Since 1913, his articles have been printed in several St. Petersburg journals at once - in “Dream”, “The Enchanted Wanderer” (article about Alexander Blok ), “Sovremennik”, “Modern World”. However, he seriously thinks about a career as a writer. In 1914, Kozyrev met Dmitry Filosofov , who drew attention to the talent of a young prose writer. He represents him to the literary elite of St. Petersburg, he himself edits his first prose experiments, and finally publishes his story “The Room” in The Voice of Life (1915).

In 1918, Kozyrev moved to Kharkov , Odessa : “I did what I did: I was an accountant, I read lectures in literary schools and studios, I was in charge of all kinds of sections, a printing house ...”. "... I finally switched to prose since 1921, when the first post-revolutionary story" Crocodile "was written, not yet subject to publication in the press, and two stories included in the book of" real stories "" Morok ". The story" Crocodile is three days from Red Prischepovskogo ”, which the author mentions, was first printed only 70 years later, in 1991, and was read at the meeting of the Nikitin Subbotnik on January 27, 1923.

The wife of Mikhail Kozyrev is the poetess Ada Vladimirova .

From the mid-1930s, Kozyrev stopped printing. He was arrested on July 14, 1941 on the charge that, “having written the story“ Leningrad ”in 1924 with counter-revolutionary content, he kept it until his arrest and distributed it among his acquaintances Kozyrev during the period from 1930 to July 14, 41. among his friends in the mountains. Moscow conducted anti-Soviet agitation against the VKP (b) and the Soviet government and expressed slanderous fabrications about life on collective farms and the development of literature in the Soviet Union. ” He did not return from interrogation in the Saratov prison in the winter of 1942 - apparently he was shot. He was posthumously rehabilitated on April 22, 1963 by a decision of the presidium of the Saratov Regional Court.
