Performances for Ukraine
Born and raised in Zaporozhye. The pupil of the School № 1, graduated from the Zaporizhzhya regional boarding school for sports. The first trainer is Nadezhda Dombrovskaya [6] . From the age of six, he trained with Pavel Netreba [7] . He studied at the Institute of Health, Sports and Tourism of the Classic Private University [8] . Represented by the FSO "Ukraine" and SK "Metallurg" of the Zaporizhstal plant. Master of sports of international class [9] .
Two-time champion (in the parallel bars and team event), bronze medalist in the all-around at the World Gymnasiade 2009. Absolute champion of the V Youth Sports Games of Ukraine in 2010, two-time silver medalist in the Ukrainian Cup of Gymnastics in the parallel bars and horse exercises. Champion of Ukraine 2011 in the team championship, silver medalist in all-around, in floor exercises and in horse riding. Winner of the 2010 Stella Zakharova Cup [10] .

- Universiade 2013
At the Universiade 2013, together with the team won the silver award. Due to the fall in the all-around, he could not catch on medals. Participated in exercises on horseback, parallel bars. He managed to win bronze on a horse.
- Change of sports citizenship
Stepko’s trainer, Pavel Netreba, accepted the offer to work in Azerbaijan. Stepko later made a decision to speak for Azerbaijan. As soon as this became known, Timofey Nagorny made an effort to ensure that Stepko remained in favor of Ukraine, which, however, were unsuccessful [20] . Six members of the Presidium of the Gymnastics Federation of Ukraine voted for the decision to release Stepko from Ukraine, subject to monetary compensation from Azerbaijan, including former gymnasts Valery Goncharov and Igor Korobchinsky ( Acting President of the Federation) [21] [22] . At the end of February 2014, Oleg Stepko changed sports citizenship from Ukrainian to Azerbaijani [23] . In a 2017 interview, Stepko noted the best conditions for development in Azerbaijan compared to Ukraine [24] .

Russian citizen
At the end of 2016, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Pavel Netreba, was fired. After mutual insults, Stepko stopped training at Netreba [24] [31] . In 2017, Stepko decided to play for Russia and began training in Novosibirsk with Vladimir Kochnev [32] [33] . Stepko last played for Azerbaijan in 2016 and on March 18, 2018 he ended his international license [33] . In 2018, Stepko became a citizen of the Russian Federation [34] .
