History
The district was formed on January 18, 1935 as part of the Saratov Territory (since 1936 - in the Saratov Region ).
On September 30, 1958, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the Saltykovsky District was abolished, and its territory was divided between Rtishchevsky, Yekaterinovsky and Arkadaksky Districts.
