Kaufman's pendulum ( lat. Pediculāris kaufmānnii ) - a perennial herb ; a species of the genus Mytnik ( Pedicularis ) of the Zarazikhov family ( Orobanchaceae ).

Botanical Description
Herbaceous perennial, 10-50 (up to 60 cm) tall. Rhizome fusiform thickened.
The stalk is leafy, with a dense pubescence of thin curly hairs.
Leaves are alternate, cirrus-divided into lanceolate, cirrus-notched lobes, with cartilaginous denticles.
Inflorescence is a thick spike-like oblong brush . The flowers are two-lipped, pale yellow, with a membranous, bell-shaped cup and pale yellow corolla, 23–28 mm (up to 3 cm) long, the upper lip of the corolla truncated above and with two teeth longer than the lower. Upper bracts lanceolate, lower cirrus dissected, similar to leaves.
The fruit is an obliquely oblong, ovoid polyspermous box [2] [3] .
Distribution and habitat
Within the central and southern regions of the European part of Russia, in the west in the Baltic states ( Lithuania , Latvia ) and in Ukraine ; in the east, distributed within Western Siberia [2] .
Lifestyle - optional non-specialized semi-parasite of herbaceous plants. An opulent forest species, grows along steppe and steppe slopes, dry lands, forest edges, preferring carbonate and sandy soils. It blooms in May - July. Toxic. Propagated by seeds [4] .
Limiting factors - overgrazing, collection in bouquets [2] .
Guard Status
In Russia
In Russia, the species is included in the Red Books of such regions as Vladimir , Volgograd , Ivanovo , Kostroma , Lipetsk , Moscow , Nizhny Novgorod , Novgorod , Pskov , Smolensk , Tver and Yaroslavl Regions, as well as the Mari El Republics, Udmurtia and Chuvashia [5] . It grows on the territory of several specially protected natural territories of Russia [6] .
In other European countries
It is included in the Red Book of Belarus 2nd edition (1993). It is under state protection in Lithuania and Latvia [7] .
