Biography
Came from the Württemberg house . The son of Prince Ludwig of Württemberg from his second marriage with Henrietta of Nassau-Weilburg .
His father was the brother of King Württemberg Frederick I (1754–1816) and the Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna , wife of Paul I.
May 2, 1835 married the Hungarian decanter Claudine Redey von Kish-Rede (1812-1841). This marriage was recognized as morganatic . The countess received the hereditary title of Countess Hohenstein and died in 1841 as a result of injuries sustained when falling from a horse during the parade of the Cavalry Garrison Ptuj in Slovenia, commanded by Prince Alexander.
Shocked by the tragic death of his wife, Prince Alexander became mentally unstable and remained so until the end of his life.

Children
From marriage to Countess Claudina Redea von Kish-Rede had three children:
- Franz, Duke of Teksky (1837-1900), father of Maria Teksky , wife of the British King George V , mother of Edward VIII and George VI .
- Claudine (1836-1894),
- Amelia (1838-1893).
In accordance with the rules of morganatic marriages, children inherited the title of their mother - counts (countesses) of Hohenstein, and did not have any rights to the inheritance of their father. In 1863, the King of Württemberg, William I granted the children of Prince Alexander the title of Dukes of Teksky .
