Biography
Boris Maistrakh was born in 1895 . He served in the tsarist army, participated in the First World War , rose to the rank of lieutenant . In February 1919, Maistrakh went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in the battles of the Civil War, commanded the 20th and 22nd rifle divisions. Repeatedly distinguished himself in battles [1] .
On September 2, 1920, the 22nd Infantry Division under the command of Maistrakh received the combat mission to liquidate the troops of General Peter Wrangel on the Taman Peninsula . This task was successfully completed as soon as possible. In those battles, the Maistrakh’s division captured 14 machine guns, 6 artillery pieces, 1,500 rounds, 120,000 rounds of ammunition, and also captured 950 soldiers and officers [1] . By order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic No. 134 of June 2, 1922, Boris Maistrakh was awarded the first Order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR [2] .
On March 1, 1920, the 20th Rifle Division under the command of Maistrakh successfully stormed the Ataman-Yegorlykskaya stanitsa, inflicting heavy losses on enemy troops in manpower, military equipment and equipment [1] . By order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic No. 171 of August 11, 1922, Boris Maistrakh was awarded the second order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR [2] .
After the war, Maistrakh continued to serve in the army. He commanded a number of rifle divisions and corps, then headed the department at the headquarters of the Ukrainian military district , taught and headed the department at the MV Frunze Military Academy [1] .
On February 6, 1935, Maistrakh was arrested by the NKVD of the USSR and subsequently sentenced to imprisonment. Only in 1955 he was rehabilitated and with the rank of colonel was transferred to the reserve [3] . He died in 1965 [1] .
