History

In 1991, Ryszard Prozner and Krzysztof Tylkowski founded a company that imports from Western Europe to Poland second-hand freight trailers and semi-trailers to meet domestic demand in the logistics market for trucking , which emerged after the transition to a market economy . Before delivery to the final consumer, the equipment went through the stage of restoration and modernization work, for which the company created special auto-workshop. In 1996, expanding its production facilities, the company established its own production using components, technologies and experience of European manufacturers. The company also acquired its own design bureau . Having occupied a niche in the Polish market, in the 2000s, the company began to export its products to other countries - mainly Eastern Europe. In 2006, Wielton SA opened its first dealerships in Russia and Ukraine, developing the dealer network in subsequent years [1] . The market of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic countries and Central Asia is the strategic priority of the company for the next decade [2] . Also priority are the markets of Southeast Europe - Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria. Wielton SA plans to expand to the markets of Central and Western Europe - Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, where the positions of the main competitors are strong - German manufacturers Kögel Trailer , Schmitz Cargobull , Krone and Austrian Schwarzmüller [3] .

Since 2009, the company has hatched plans for the creation in the long term of production facilities in Russia. [4] Partially such experience was implemented in the city of Borovsk, Kaluga Region in 2011. And in 2015, two well-known 33 cc models were presented on the Russian market . m. of dumping semi-trailers, the assembly of which was carried out in Russia in Sheremetyevo, Moscow Region . The method of large-site assembly was used, where all the components and parts come from the parent company located in Poland. [5] [6] [7] [8]

During the 2008–2012 economic crisis

During the crisis of 2008-2012 , the company actively used forms of leasing mutual settlements [9] . During this period, the company received significant profit from the sale of new models of dumping trailers on the Russian market, the main buyers of which were construction companies and quarrying companies [10] .

Criticism

In November 2008 - January 2009 Wielton SA reduced 200 employees in its production in Velun , which at that time amounted to almost a quarter of the total personnel of 853 people. The cuts coincided with rising unemployment in Poland amid a recession. According to calculations, these measures were supposed to save companies 0.5 million zlotys per month. [eleven]

Company shares on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

During its existence, the company changed several forms of ownership until in 2006 it became a joint-stock company ( Polish. Spółka Akcyjna ). At the end of 2007, Wielton SA carried out an IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange .

Name and logo

The name is derived from two Polish words Polish. wiele - many, big and polish. tona - ton , tonnage . The first part of the name is also consonant with the city of Wieluń , where the company was founded. According to the Polish-Russian transcription, Wielton means the correct spelling and pronunciation of [ˈvjɛltɔn] Welton , but Welton is more common, sometimes in the German manner of Wilton . The symbol of the company is a camel (polish. Wielbłąd - velblond ), placed on the logo .
