Locating a Region
There is some uncertainty in the Russian language due to the fact that in the English language the North American region is not called North America as the mainland , but Northern America , which can roughly be translated as the Northern part of America . The term " Northern America " was first used on maps of 1755 , when the continent was divided among themselves by Britain , France and Spain . Today, this name means economically developed states and territories located north of Latin America [3] .
