Gnuse, Julia

Julia Gnuse ( born Julia Gnuse ; January 18, 1955 - August 11, 2016 , Flint , MI ), known by the nickname The Illustrated Lady (translated as Painted Lady ), is an American who became famous due to the fact that 95 % of her skin is covered with tattoos [1] . According to the Guinness Book of Records , she was the most tattooed woman in the world [2] . After 30 years, J. Gnuse developed porphyria , a condition in which sunlight causes blisters to appear on the skin [3] . Since blisters often led to the appearance of scars, she began to apply tattoos to hide them. However, tattoos could not prevent the appearance of new blisters [4] .
