Sports and subsequent career
From an early age he attracted attention as a talented hockey goalkeeper, as a member of the Ontario Senior National League Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen Club, he won the Allan Cup (1955), so he took part in the AHL club's meetings in Cleveland Barons the same year, after which he a professional contract was offered. He accepted the offer, however, since he decided to participate in the Olympic Winter Ice Hockey Tournament in Cortina d'Ampezzo (1956), he was expelled from the ranks of professional players. At the Olympic tournament, having spent four matches with Canada, he became a bronze medalist.
He continued his performances as part of the Buffalo Bisons (1957-1958) AHL clubs and Charlotte Clippers (1958-1959) of the Eastern Hockey League. However, he gradually devoted more and more time to photography, becoming one of the leading sports photographers in Canada. He was a multi-year photographer for the Montréal Expos baseball club and the Montreal Canadiens hockey club. In addition, he was an illustrator and photographer of a number of book publications. In 1996, a collection of his photographs was released: Goalies - Guardians of the Net, which is a collection of more than 500 black-and-white and color photographs of famous hockey goalkeepers.
In 2006, he sold his collection of more than 110,000 photos of the National Hockey League.
