Story

The main character is Takuro Nakamura, baptized by father Nikolai (Kari-Hiroyuki Tagawa) - a priest of the Japanese Orthodox Church , formerly a professional athlete, and in addition, the brother of the head of one of the influential Yakuza clans, Akimi Nakamura (Naoto Kanji). Once, three young Yakuza from a hostile clan protagonist, having met him on the street of a night city, begin to scoff at him. The priest withstands the test and leaves, but he has to return: a trinity attacked the girl. Protecting her, father Nikolai does significant damage - breaks his nose and breaks his humerus - one of the guys, the son of the head of the clan.

The father of the disgraced guy demands from Takuro the head of his brother, but is refused. The war of the Yakuza factions is inevitable. After the Akimi office was shot and innocent people were killed, Bishop Father Nikolai sends him to serve in the Russian village of Glubokoe. When he arrives at the place, the first whom he meets are the blessed Makarka (Stepan Samoilenko), as the villagers affectionately call him, and his mother, Daria Makarova (Nadezhda Markina). Then the hero inspects the destroyed church, where for a long time there were no services. Here he meets an apparently quite nice young man named Andrei Nelyubin ( Ivan Okhlobystin ), whom the villagers call the main benefactor. He has a summer cottage in Glubokoe. The priest has to spend the night at Shatun ( Peter Mamonov ). At night, Shatun wakes him up with a request to help - the building is burning on the Yakhontov site, where they kept rabbits - the fire destroyed the small family business. During the extinguishing, a real drama is played out: while the villagers try to extinguish the flame, a drunken Petya Yeryomin ( Pyotr Fedorov ) crawls around a burning barn, almost on a rack, and yells that this is what the Yakhontov needs. The head of the family, Konstantin Yakhontov ( Igor Zhizhikin ) does not stand up and hits the unbelted guy. A scuffle ensues, an outfit arrives, but for some reason they take Chingizka (Aziz Rametov), although the guy just separated the fighters. Father Nicholas all this time carefully watched what was happening. He understands that where there is no church, there is no slack between people.

The priest begins to rebuild the church, and with it try to "repair" the relationship between people. But it's not that simple. Father Nikolai hires Petya Eremin as his assistant to help restore the church and not sit idle. On the first morning, Petya honestly comes and receives money. But the next morning, he no longer appears and Takuro himself goes to him. On the porch, women cry - Luba Eryomina (Daria Ekamasova) and Anna Yakhontova (Lyubov Tolkalina). And in the house, Konstantin Yakhontov, armed with a gun, is trying to kill Eremin, accusing him of arson and missing children: Makarka and Katya Yakhontova (Alina Babak) did not return from the walk. At the moment when Yakhontov is ready to pull the trigger, Nelyubin's car appears out of nowhere, from which happy Makarka and Katya get out. Nelyubin explains that he met them on the road and took them for a walk. Everything worked out, but Konstantin was taken to the station. Eremin is going to write a statement to him. In the evening, Father Nikolai comes to Petya, asks to forgive Yakhontov and tells him his story. Eremin takes the application. Nelyubin is angry. Knowing about the inadequate reaction of Konstantin, a former military man who visited hot spots, he specially adjusted the situation with the children: he needed to evict all the inhabitants from the village, since in its place there was a real treasure - a natural deposit of red clay. Nelyubin comes to church with Father Nicholas, arranges a stage and orders to get out of the village. The priest, a former Yakuza himself, is not afraid of threats.

During the Makarka birthday party, a priest is beaten by two local police officers working for Nelyubin. In the morning, Makarka finds him. The priest is carried into his room. While the villagers prepare water, rags and medicines, Makarka asks him to ring the bell that the men recently found in the forest - this is his dream. Father Nicholas promises that as soon as the bell is repaired, Makarka will fulfill his wish.

Nelyubin is ready for anything to achieve his goal. Armed people come to the Deep. Nelyubin’s plan is simple: shoot residents, Burn the Deep, and then take the corpses home. A shootout ensues. While Yakhontov and Shatun shoot back from the bandits, the rest run to the church to escape in its stone building. Makarka is dying. The villagers, together with their father Nikolai, are locked in churches, but armed bandits led by Nelyubin make their way inside. Face to face they are greeted by a priest. He loudly orders the thugs to get out. They only laugh, but the huge bell that the men of the village recently hung suddenly starts ringing, and then it falls right on the heads of uninvited guests. Yakhontov rushes at Nelyubin, but the priest tells him not to kill him - enough deaths already.

The film ends with the wedding of the Eremin - Lyuba is pregnant. Father Nikolai receives a letter stating that his brother was killed. He hurries off to Japan. At the airport he is met by the very son of the head of the hostile clan.
