The flag was approved by the decision of the Katai District Duma dated June 18, 2013 [2] [3] and June 21, 2013 entered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with the assignment of registration number 8467 [4] .
Description
The flag of the district is a green cloth, the width and length of which are related as 2: 3, on which the composition of the regionβs coat of arms is reproduced in the center while preserving their hierarchy (relative position), while the width of the squirrel strip is 1/4 of the flag's width; On the flag, heraldic gold is depicted in yellow, and silver elements (in heraldic squirrel fur) are shown in white. The back side of the flag is a mirror image of its front side.
Symbolization Justification
Flag of Kataysky district is based on the coat of arms of Kataysk .
Kataysk was a kind of "gate" from Western and Central Russia to Siberia. The heraldic squirrel's fur (depicted by alternating white and blue figurines like slam or skins) symbolizes the main trade route to Siberia, which passed through Katai land. Squirrel fur in combination with the green color of the shield indicates the natural wealth of the region. Bow and arrows are among the main Siberian and, at the same time, Ural heraldic symbols. In addition, the bow and arrows are the weapons of the first settlers on the territory of the Katai land, which began to settle down with the construction of the fortress, behind the walls of which they reflected nomadic raids.
Green, azure, silver and gold are the official colors of the Kurgan region.

- Azure (blue, blue) color in heraldry is a symbol of honor, glory, devotion, truth, beauty, virtue and a clear sky.
