Description and Area

Representatives of the tribe are terrestrial or epiphytic plants . fleshy, spindle-shaped roots , usually bundled.

Sessile leaves ; in some species there is only one leaf on the stem . Mycotrophic births included in the subtribe have brown scales instead of leaves.

Inflorescence is an ear . Stamens parallel to the axis of the pestle . The fruit is a box .

Representatives of the subtrib live mainly in North and South America , but are also found in Africa , Asia , Australia , Europe .
