Representatives of the subfamily live in South and Central America from southern Mexico to central Brazil and Bolivia . These are daytime animals that spend almost all their time on trees. They can quickly move in crowns using their long, tenacious tail. This is one of the largest primates of the New World. Form groups, sometimes quite large. [one]

In the diet, mainly fruits, seeds and leaves, [1] [2] and fruits account for up to 80% of the diet. [1] The female brings offspring once every two to four years. There is usually one cub in the litter. Some species are hunted by eating their meat. Another threat to the population is habitat destruction, while many species are on the verge of extinction.
