Venezuela Football Championship 2012/2013 - 57th draw of the first division of Venezuela . The championship consisted of two parts: the Aperture , which was held in the second half of 2012, and Clausura , which was held in the first half of 2013. The current champion was Deportivo Lara , who won his first title last season.

The tournament was attended by 18 teams. The first division was left by Carabobo and Tucanes de Amasónas , which took 17th and 18th places at the end of the 2011/2012 season, respectively. Their place was taken by Atletico Venezuela and Portuguesa , the champion and 2nd team of the Segunda 2011/2012, respectively.

Format

Venezuela Championship 2012/2013 consists of two tournaments: Apertura and Clausura, and the final stage. Aperture 2012 and Klausura 2013 are played in one round in the “every with” system.

The winners of Apertura and Clausura play the title of champion in the Champions Series. In case Aperture 2012 and Clausura 2013 are won by the same team, it automatically becomes the champion. The 2nd team is determined by the overall table of the championship.

The third and fourth place in the South American Cup is played in the playoffs. It involves the top 8 teams in the overall table who did not make it into the Copa Libertadores.
