Shtyba Square is a square in the center of Vladikavkaz , North Ossetia , Russia . Located in the Iristonsky municipality on the right bank of the river Terek .

Shtyba Square is crossed by Gappo Baeva and Chermen Baeva streets. From the square to the east begins street Shtyba . The Pig- iron Bridge connects the square to the left bank of the River Terek.
Content
History
The area was formed in the middle of the XIX century . The original name is Krasnory square.
In 1926, Krasnoryadskaya Square received the name Shtyb Square - in honor of the revolutionary and security officer Semyon Mitrofanovich Shtyb [1] .
In the early 1980s, a radical reconstruction of the Shtyba Square was carried out. In the northern part of the square there is a square , and in the southern part a building of the City Executive Committee is built.
In October 2007, by the decision of the toponymic commission of the AMS, the city of Vladikavkaz, Shtyb Square, the historical name Krasnoryskaya Square was returned [2] . However, this decision has not entered into force.

Monuments
- Bust S. M. Shtyba - installed in 1987 in the eastern part of the square, at the beginning of Shtyba street.
- Monument to Dzaug Bugulov [4] - to the founder of the settlement, near which the Vladikavkaz fortress was built. Installed in the northern part of the square in October 2007 .
Transportation
In the 1960s – 1970s, the Shtyb Square was a major transportation hub . On the square there was a tram control tower and the terminus of commuter buses . In 1978, the Shaldon tram line passing through the square was dismantled. And in the early 1980s, due to the reconstruction of the square and the construction of the City Executive Committee building, the bus terminal was removed from the square.
