Barbara Moore (nee Anna Cherkasova ; December 22, 1903 - May 14, 1977 ) [1] - a Russian-born vegetarian enthusiast who became famous in the early 1960s for long-distance trips.

In the USSR, learned to be an engineer, won the USSR championship in long-distance motocross in 1932.
Emigrated to the UK, where she became a doctor of medicine.
In December 1959 she passed from Edinburgh to London. In the early 1960s, the route passed from John O'Groats to the Lands End (1349 km - the extreme points of the island of Great Britain) in 23 days. For 86 days, she crossed the United States (5450 km) from San Francisco to New York , where she arrived on July 6, 1960 [2] .
She was a vegetarian and a Britarian. [3] During the campaigns she ate only nuts, honey, raw fruits and vegetables [4] .
She died in a London hospital on May 14, 1977.
