Club career

Cadete began his career in the youth team of the club "Academica Santarem". At fifteen, he scored 43 in 18 games and was invited to the Lisbon Sporting Football Academy. In 1987, the Cadet made its debut in the Sangrish League and took part in 6 meetings in the first season. In 1987, on loan, he moved to Vitoria Setubal . In the 1992/1993 season, Cadete with 18 goals became the top scorer of the Portuguese championship . In 1995, he helped Sporting win the Portuguese Cup . In the 1994/1995 season, Jorge Cadete played on loan for the Italian Brescia .

In April 1996, after long negotiations to extend the contract with Sporting, the parties did not compromise and Cadet signed a contract with the Scottish Celtic as a free agent. He made his debut with the Scottish Premier League , coming on as a substitute in the match against Aberdeen and was able to score his first goal for the new club since the debut match. With the Dutchman Pierre van Hoidonoc and the Italian Paolo Di Canio, he formed one of the most formidable ligaments of the Scottish championship and received the nickname "Three Amigo". The following season, Kadet became the Premier League top scorer, scoring 33 goals in 44 games, without ever scoring from the penalty spot. At the end of the season, he left the team, citing a difficult adaptation to the living conditions in Scotland.

The new season, Cadete began in La Liga at the club " Celta ". In Spain, he spent one season and in January returned to his homeland in Benfica . In the new club, he reunited with his Celtic partner Pierre van Hoidonk. In early 2000, Cadet transferred on loan to the English Bradford City . In his match against Aston Villa , he made his debut in the Premier League . He spent only 7 matches for the club and soon returned to Portugal, but was again leased to Estrel . The management of the "eagles" did not renew the contract and the Cadet became a free agent. He could not find the club for a long time and even decided to end his career, but then he changed his mind and soon the Scottish “ Partis Thistle ” coach, whom Martin O'Neill knew the striker for performances for the “Celts”, offered the Cadet a contract. On February 22, in a match against his former club Celtic, he made his debut for a new club. The debut was mixed, as the fans of the “green” began to boo their former striker [2] . The cadet played very weakly and soon left the team [3] . After unsuccessful attempts to settle in Qatar, Japan and the lower divisions of the Scottish League, he returned to his homeland, where for several years he played for the semi-professional teams Pinjalnovenshu and San Marcos. In 2007, Cadet completed his career.

International Career

On August 29, 1990, in a friendly match against the German national team, Cajete made his debut for the Portuguese national team . On February 20, 1991, in the 1992 European Championship qualifying round match against Malta, he scored his first goal for the national team [4] . In 1996, the Cadet as a member of the national team went to the European Championship in England. At the tournament, he played in two matches against the teams of Turkey [5] and the Czech Republic [6] .
