Antracoteria [1] ( lat. Anthracotheriidae ) - a family of extinct mammals from the order of artiodactyls . About 25 genera of these animals are known. The Antrakoterievs were studied by the founder of evolutionary paleontology, Russian scientist V.O. Kovalevsky .

The smallest representatives were growth from a small boar , and the largest from a hippopotamus . Their molars were tuberculate. 4 toes on the feet.
Fossil anthracoterium from Eurasia and North America belong to the Eocene - Pliocene , and from North Africa - to the Oligocene .
