Government

• Volgograd State University . One of the leading higher educational institutions of the Volgograd region. The first student enrollment (250 students) was made in 1980. Member of the Eurasian Association of Universities, the Association of Classical Universities of Russia, the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature; Regional center of science, education and culture. In VolSU there are about 50 special and university departments, 28 areas of magistracy, 44 areas of bachelor training, 3 specialties. Postgraduate study (in 42 specialties). At the end of 2015, the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University was attached to the university ^[1] , but at the end of 2016 the order of the Ministry of Education and Science to unite universities was canceled ^[2] .
• Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University . One of the largest pedagogical universities of the Russian Federation, was established in 1931 in accordance with the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR as the Stalingrad Industrial Pedagogical Institute. The university has 43 research centers and laboratories. The structure of VGSPU includes a branch in the city of Mikhailovka, Volgograd Region, 2 institutes and 11 faculties.
• Volgograd State Technical University . The university was founded on December 11, 1929 by a resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR "in connection with the construction of the Stalingrad Tractor Plant." At the moment, the university is a unified educational-scientific-production complex, consisting of 14 faculties and 3 branches. One of the largest universities in the Volga region, a multidisciplinary educational institution. More than 20 thousand students are studying here (including branches). At the end of 2015, the Volgograd State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was attached to it ^[3] .
• Volgograd State Medical University . It was founded in 1935 as the Stalingrad Medical Institute. One of the oldest educational institutions of the city - was founded by decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR No. 1818 in 1935. The first issue took place in 1940. According to its rating, Volgograd State Medical University takes 5th place among medical universities in Russia. In 2012, the Pyatigorsk State Pharmaceutical Academy was attached to it, on the basis of which the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute , a branch of Volgograd State Medical University was formed.
• Volgograd State Agrarian University . On July 17, 1944, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR decided to open the Stalingrad Agricultural Institute in Uryupinsk, consisting of 4 faculties: agronomy, livestock, veterinary and the faculty of agricultural mechanization with a contingent of 400 students for the first courses. The opening of the institute took place on October 14, 1944. In 1967, a military department was opened at the Volgograd Agricultural Institute; since 2008, it is one of 68 military departments operating in Russia and the only one not only in Volgograd, but also in the entire North Caucasian military district. On October 19, 2011, the Volgograd State Agricultural Academy was given the state status of a university.

Non-Governmental

• Tsaritsyno Orthodox University of St. Sergius of Radonezh . The official opening of Tsaritsyno Orthodox University took place on October 14, 1993, on the day of the Protection of the Mother of God. The university was opened as part of three faculties: theological, pastoral, pedagogical and environmental.

• Volgograd Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation . The Academy was established as the Higher Investigative School (VSH) under the Ministry of Public Order Protection of the RSFSR by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of July 10, 1966. The date of its foundation is considered to be October 1, 1967, when studies began at the new university.
• The Volgograd State Academy of Postgraduate Education (formerly called the Volgograd State Academy of Postgraduate Education and Retraining of Education Workers, etc., earlier) ^[4] .
• Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture . It was founded in 1960 on the basis of the Stalingrad College of Physical Education. The status of the academy was assigned to the university in 1996, until 1996 the institute. One of 13 sports universities in Russia.

• Volgograd State Institute of Arts and Culture . It was founded in 1999. It is one of the first in Russia, a state higher educational institution of culture and arts, uniting a children's art school, college and university.

It was founded in 2003 on the basis of the Volgograd College of Business (former names - Volgograd College of Consumer Cooperatives, Volgograd College of Consumer Cooperatives). It has colleges in six district centers of the Volgograd region: in Kamyshin , Kotelnikovo , Mikhailovka , Surovikino , Uryupinsk , Frolovo . Member of the Volgograd Chamber of Commerce since 2006 . Included in the educational holding - South Russian University. Rector - Andrey Alexandrovich Vashchenko , Commissioner (Ombudsman) for the Protection of Entrepreneurs' Rights in the Volgograd Region, Doctor of Economics ^[5] .

Interesting Facts

By the 75th anniversary of the university, the students “took off” to establish a penny monument, because the people of the Volgograd College of Consumer Cooperatives called "penny" ^[6] . Now, students traditionally call VIB itself a “penny”.

• Volgograd Institute of Economics, Sociology and Law . One of the first non-state universities of the Volgograd region, carrying out educational activities since 1993.
• Volgograd Humanitarian Institute . It was founded in 2013.

• Volgograd Conservatory named after P.A. Serebryakova . The oldest university in Volgograd. It was founded in 1917.
