Tsikhisdziri ( Georgian ციხისძირი , Azeri Çömbərli ) is a village of the Mtskheta municipality , the region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti of the Republic of Georgia with a predominantly Azerbaijani population . It is located in the south-east of Georgia, in the historical region of Shida Kartli .

Toponym
The toponym of the village Tsikhisdziri translated from Georgian into Russian means “At the foot of the fortress (rock)” or “Under the fortress”. The second name of the village is also spread among the local Azerbaijani population - Garakhesenli Azerb. “Qarahəsənli” , which is translated into Russian as “Black Hasan”. [3]
Geography
The village is located in the Mukhran depression, on the left bank of the Ksani River, 21 km from the regional center of Mtskheta , near the highway Tbilisi - Gori. [3]
It borders with the cities of Tbilisi and Mtskheta , the villages of Dzveli-Kanda , Patara-Kanda , Mukhrani , Dzalisi , Vaziani , Tsilkani , Ered , Akhalubani , Chardakhi , Tserovani , Galavani , Agdgomelaantkari , Natakhtari , Misaktsieli and Lami Mtskheta Municipality . [four]
Population
According to the State Statistics Committee of Georgia, according to the official census of 2014 , the population of the village of Tsikhisdziri is 1606 people, of which 61.3% are Azerbaijanis , 34.5% are Georgians . [five]
The first census in the village was conducted in 1926 and showed that at that time its population was equal to 117 residents in 24 families. [3]

The population is mainly engaged in agriculture , sheep , cattle and vegetable growing .
