Biography
Born September 6, 1920 in the village of Tarasovichi [K 1] in a working class family. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1942. He graduated from the 3rd course of the Moscow Institute of Telecommunications Engineers.
In the Red Army since 1940. In 1943 he graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation School . On the fronts of World War II from December 1943.
By the end of March 1945, the commander of the 175th guards assault air regiment, junior lieutenant F. S. Shmyrin, flew 114 sorties to attack the enemy troops, destroying five tanks, 111 convoys, and a hundred artillery batteries on his Il-2 attack plane .
For exemplary performance of command missions and courage and heroism in the battles against Nazi invaders, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, Guards junior lieutenant Shmyrin Fedor Sergeyevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
After the war, F. S. Shmyrin continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the USSR. In 1949 he graduated in absentia from the All-Union Electrotechnical Institute of Communications, and in 1951 - from the Air Force Academy. Since 1958, Colonel F. S. Shmyrin - in stock, and then retired.
Since 1974 he lived in the city of Vladimir. He worked as an assistant to the head of the regional production and technical communications department. Having gone on a well-deserved rest, F. S. Shmyrin conducted active public work - he was the chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Leninsky District of the city of Vladimir, wrote poems and memoirs. He died on August 6, 2001. He was buried in the cemetery "Ulybyshevo" in Vladimir.
Rewards
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , three orders of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , and medals.
Memory
On May 7, 2004, a memorial plaque was opened in memory of him on the facade of house number 45 on Balakirev Street in the city of Vladimir, where the Hero lived for 19 years. At the memorial of heroes - a stele with its bas-relief.
