Bezhetsky word

The Bezhetsky word is a socio-political and economic newspaper, printed in the Zemstvo type. The city of Bezhetsk of the Tver province, published in July-August 1906, signed, was published three times a week. The newspaper defended the interests of the working class and the rural poor. The second newspaper in the history of the city.

The newspaper was founded by revolutionary-minded students working in the staff of the first Bezhevchan newspaper Bezhevchanin. Bezhechanin was released on May 25, 1906, published by the Zemstvo insurance agent Belov, but after 22 issues it ceased to exist for financial reasons, but students found funds to publish the newspaper.

The editor and publisher of the Bezhetskoe Slovo newspaper, a medical student, I. A. Kornilov, adhered to social democratic views. Only 15 issues appeared, five times the circulation of the newspaper was arrested. The newspaper sharply criticized the tsarist government, the publications were openly anti-government, closed by the decision of the Moscow Court of Justice on the issue of the newspaper’s 15th issue (August 3), and the editor and the printing manager were put on trial for publishing an announcement about the cessation of publication due to police harassment.

Until 1917, no newspaper was published in the city.
