Trigonopterus aeneipennis (lat.) Is a species of weevil beetles of the genus Trigonopterus from the subfamily Cryptorhynchinae ( Curculionidae ). Found on the island of New Guinea (Jayapura Reg., Cyclops Mts: 785–945 m) [1] .

Description
Small flightless weevils , length from 1.50 to 1.74 mm; mostly black with a bronze tint. Wings are missing. Rostrum shortened, at rest does not reach the middle of the middle coxae. Elytra with 9 grooves. Claws of paws are small [1] . In earlier works it was referred to as “Trigonopterus sp. 50"
The species was first described in 2013 by the German coleopterologist Alexander Riedel ; Museum of Natural History Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe , Germany ), together with entomologists Katayo Sagata; Papua New Guinea Institute for Biological research (PNG-IBR), Goroka, Papua New Guinea ), Suriani Surbakti ( Suriani Surbakti ; Jurusan Biology, FMIPA-Universitas Cendrawasih, Kampus Baru, Jayapura , Papua , Indonesia ), Rene Tänzler ; Zoological State Collection , Munich ) and Michael Balke Gele ( Michael Balke ; Ludwig-Maximilians-University , Munich, Germany ), which carried out an audit of the fauna of beetles of the genus Trigonopterus on the island of New Guinea [1] .
Trigonopterus aeneipennis together with the species Trigonopterus aeneus , Trigonopterus infatus , Trigonopterus myops , Trigonopterus parvulus , Trigonopterus striatus , Trigonopterus oblitus and Trigonopterus vossi forms the subgenus Mimidotasia Voss. This group is characterized by the following features: hind femora without stridulatory organ in the apical part, an aedeagus usually with an asymmetric apex, and soil conditions [1] .
