Story
General Morden’s soldiers land and take over the island, where new Sapsan soldiers are training. For the first time in a game series, a player takes control of two new recruits Walter Ryan or Tyra Elson.
Gameplay
The gameplay is very similar to past games in the series, but with some innovations: the life system and the card system. The life system replaces the original damage system from past games in the series. When dealing damage, the life system decreases (different attacks cause a different amount of damage). When collecting food, the strip of lives is restored. The player will instantly die if a streak of lives is empty or he falls into a hole or if something crushes him. The card system is an element of the game. Cards can be obtained in various ways (rescue hostages, breaking boxes and defeating bosses). Each card provides an opportunity to find out information about the various elements of the game, and sometimes provides a way to discover new types of equipment. As in previous games in the series, the game has various types of equipment (metal slug).
