Brazilian shrub philodrias [1] ( lat. Philodryas olfersii ) is a poisonous species of snakes of the family of the genus Filodriasis , or shrub snakes. Latin name Ph. olfersii in honor of the German naturalist Ignaz von Olfers . [2]

Description

 

Brazilian shrub filodrias reaches 100-150 cm in length. [3] Dorsal coloration green, [4] belly yellowish. [five]

Dorsal scales smooth, organized in 19 rows in the middle of the body. [5] Poisonous appearance.

Behavior

Brazilian shrub filodrias is a mostly arboreal species, [6] but can also hunt on land. [7] Daytime, [6] less likely to mate late in the evening. [eight]

Range

The species is found in most of South America, including Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, French Guiana and Venezuela. [9]

Habitat

It lives in cerrado , katinga , in forests, copses and resting. [ten]

Nutrition

It feeds mainly on rodents, lizards, amphibians and birds, [6] especially chicks. [7] They are also able to feed on other snakes, including ones as large as themselves. [eleven]
