Content
Club career
Steele grew up with three brothers, not far from Belfast . Johnny was a difficult teenager and it was decided to give him to the football academy of English " Wolverhampton Wanderers ". After graduation at the age of 18, Johnny left for the United States and never returned home.
In the US, Steele tried to sign a contract with the MLS Dallas club, but instead found himself on the USL Syracuse Salty Dogs team. Later he flew home to play for the youth team. After returning, Johnny did not play long for Rochester Rainos . In 2006, he returned to Northern Ireland , where he took part in several matches for Ballymena United .
In the spring of 2007, Steele returned to the United States and entered into an agreement with the USL Carolina Railhocks club. Having played 19 matches, he was injured and was out until the end of the season. In early 2008, Johnny moved to the Puerto Rico Islanders . At the club, he was one of the leaders of the team and at the end of the season received the award for the Most Valuable Footballer USL. For the first half of 2010, Steele played for the Canadian Vancouver Whitecaps , and then went to Tampa Bay Rowdies . In 2011, he was on loan for a short time returned to the "Caroline Reylahoks."
In 2012, Johnny signed a contract with the Real Salt Lake MLS Club. The proposal of this team two years before was rejected because of the desire to play in Canada . On March 18, in the match against the New York Red Bulls , he made his debut in the MLS [1] . On April 2, in a duel against Portland Timbers , Johnny scored his first goal for Salt Lake [2] .
In February 2013, Steele signed a contract with the New York Red Bulls. He immediately won a place in the base. On 4 March, Johnny made his debut for the bulls in a match against Portland Timbers. [3] On April 21, in a meeting against the New England Revolution , he scored his first goal for the club [4] . That same year, Styles helped the team win the MLS Supporters' Shield .
International Career
In 2005, as part of the youth team, Steele took part in the European Home Youth Championship .
In April 2013, after Johnny’s outstanding performances in the Red Bulls, he received an invitation to the Northern Ireland national team for a series of friendly matches, but he didn’t enter the field. November 15 in a fight against the national team of Turkey, Steele debuted for the national team [5] .
