Eales Landstrom was born in 1932 in Viyala . In 1952 he took part in the Olympic Games in Helsinki , where he became the 14th in the track and field athletics decathlon. In 1954 he won the European Championship. In 1956 he took part in the Olympics in Melbourne , where he became 7th in the pole vault. In 1958, he again became the champion of Europe. In 1960, he won the bronze medal in pole vaulting at the Olympic Games in Rome .

In 1966-1971, Eales Landstrom was a member of the Finnish parliament, in 1967-1976 he was a member of the Administrative Council of the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation. He is the author of two novels.
