The presidential elections in the Maldives were held on October 17, 2003 in the form of a referendum, since only one candidate was proposed by Parliament [1] . The current president, Momun Abdul Gaume, was re-elected for the sixth time on the post, gaining 90%. These elections were the last successful elections for Ghayum.
