Biography
Ivan Lysenko was born on August 10, 1918 in the village of Iskrennoye (now Shpolyansky district of Cherkasy region of Ukraine ). After graduating from junior high school he worked as a foreman at a factory in Kiev . In 1941, Lysenko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He graduated from the military aviation school of pilots. Since January 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By September 1944, the senior lieutenant Ivan Lysenko was the deputy squadron commander of the 74th guards assault air regiment of the 1st guards assault air division of the 1st air army of the 3rd Belorussian front . By that time, he had made 512 sorties to attack accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects, inflicting heavy losses on him [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 23, 1945, for the "exemplary fulfillment of the command assignments for the destruction of enemy manpower and equipment and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, senior lieutenant Ivan Lysenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under the number 6222 [1] .
After the war, Lysenko continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1953, he graduated from the Higher Air Force Tactical Courses. In 1960, Colonel Lysenko was sacked. He lived in Kiev .
He died on August 14, 2000, was buried in the Berkovetsky cemetery of Kiev [1] .
He was also awarded four orders of the Red Banner , orders of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 3rd degree and Alexander Nevsky , two orders of World War I 1st degree, a number of medals [1] .
