Ship Description
The length of the ship was 48.77 meters , width - 13.5 meters, and the draft - 5.8 meters. The armament of the ship consisted of 66 guns [1] [2] .
Service history
The ship "Asia" was laid down on September 21, 1794 at the Solombalsk shipyard in Arkhangelsk and after launching on August 24, 1796, it became part of the Baltic Fleet. The construction was conducted by the shipmaster G. Ignatiev [1] .
The ship took part in the war with France of 1798-1800. July 3, 1798 was included in the squadron of Rear Admiral EE Theta , which left Archangel to England for joint actions with the English fleet against France and Holland and by August 8 the ships of the squadron arrived at the Norsky raid [1] .
On June 2, 1799, in the squadron of Vice-Admiral P. K. Kartsov, he left Portsmouth to the Mediterranean to reinforce the squadron of F. F. Ushakov . Before Gibraltar, a Russian squadron escorted English transport ships. On August 3, the ships of the squadron arrived in Palermo , where on August 22 they entered the squadron of F. F. Ushakov.
On December 24, the squadron arrived in Messina, where on December 31 the order of Emperor Paul I was received to return to Russia and on December 31, 1799 the ships left Messina and by January 7, 1800 arrived in Corfu . On July 6, the combined squadron commanded by F. F. Ushakov withdrew from Corfu and on October 26, 1800, she arrived in Sevastopol , where the "Asia" was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet. On May 5, 1804, the vessel was sent to Odessa [1] .
On May 23, with the troops on board, the ship sailed from Odessa to the Mediterranean as part of a detachment. On July 2, the detachment approached Corfu, where the “Asia” was left in the squadron of Rear Admiral A. A. Sorokin .
He took part in the war with France in 1804-1807. On September 27, 1809, an order was received to hand over the ship to the French government, and by October 20 the ship was completely disarmed, and the crew was transferred to the shore [2] .
