Description
Cicadas are about 5 mm in size: males 4.5–5.3 mm, females 5.1–5.9 mm. The head is already pronotum . The main coloration is yellowish brown with dark markings (the region around the ocelium is orange with an apical black spot; the frontoclypeus is fawn with two or three black stripes at the front edge; the clypellus and cheeks are fawn). The pronotum is 2.2 times wider than its length, and longer than the mesonotum. Slender, narrow, with a rather strongly rounded head protruding forward. The transition of the face to the crown is rounded, the crown narrow. The valid species status of Scaphoideus festivus was confirmed in 2013 during an audit of the regional fauna by Japanese entomologists Satoshi Kamitani; Entomological Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University , Fukuoka , Japan ) and Masami Hayashi ; Department of Biology, Faculty Education, Saitama University, Saitama , Japan). Similar to Scaphoideus jogensis , differing in the details of the structure of the male genitalia [1] .
