Elizabeth Toirer was born in 1956 in Linz . In 1968, she began horseback riding under the guidance of instructor Hans Max, whom she later married. In 1973, when buying another horse, she received as a bonus a dark gray horse nicknamed Mon Cherie. In 1979, Elizabeth Toirer at the Mon Cherie won the gold medal of the European Dressage Championship, and in 1980 became the champion of the Olympic Games in Moscow .
In 1984, she took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles , but there she became 11th in the individual competition, and the entire Austrian team was 9th. Due to the birth of her daughter (1985) and son (1987), she was unable to take part in the 1988 Olympics, but in 1992 she performed at the Olympic Games in Barcelona , where she became the 8th.
Elizabeth Toirer is a co-owner of Plasser & Theurer, a company founded by her father.
