Coming into politics
Born January 31, 1960 in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute and graduate school of the same university. Candidate of Technical Sciences.
In 1989, he was elected People's Deputy of the USSR from the Oktyabrsky and Moskvoretsky districts of Moscow (territorial district No. 17). In the same year, he became first deputy chairman of one of the committees of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

In 1994, Zaslavsky joined the "Democratic Choice of Russia" and became a member of the political council of this party. Work at Gosstroy
In 1998-2003 - Deputy Minister of the RF Ministry of Construction and Land and Deputy Chairman of the Gosstroy of Russia. In the ministry he was responsible for the issues of the mortgage lending system, worked on the draft Land Code. He supervised subordinate enterprises in the State Construction Committee (Gosstroy of Russia).
In 2003, Mikhail Kasyanov relieved Ilya Zaslavsky of his post “in connection with the transfer to another job.” Zaslavsky became chairman of the board of directors of Mosmetrostroy . Since then, he has been working in private business as a CEO of various companies and an expert on land and construction issues.
