Ookami Shounen Ken ( Japanese 狼 少年 ケ ン O: kami sho: Nan Ken , Ken is a wolf boy) is a Japanese anime series, the first series released by Toei Animation [1] . It was broadcast at 18:15 on TV Asahi (also the very first series of the channel) [2] from November 25, 1963 to August 16, 1965 . A total of 86 anime episodes have been released. Based on the series in 1963 and 1964, 2 animated films were released. The series was broadcast in the USA , Australia and South America [3] [4] . Since at the time of the creation of the series, the anime industry in Japan was still poorly developed, the creators did not count on great popularity and thus neglected the quality of animation, limited to 8 frames per second [4] . However, the rapidly growing popularity of the series made it necessary to change the animators' approach to work and increase the frame rate to 24 per second [4] . Hayao Miyazaki took part in the work on the series [5] .
