Saido Berahino ( born Saido Berahino ; born August 4, 1993 in Burundi ) is a Burundian and English footballer who is a striker for the club of the Stoke City Championship and the Burundi national team .

Club career

Born in Burundi , but because of the civil war he moved to England with his mother, brother and sisters [1] . His family received political asylum in Newtown, Birmingham . In 2004, Seido joined the West Bromwich Albion Club Academy [2] . In the summer of 2011, he signed his first professional contract with “blackbirds”.

On October 20, 2011, Berakhino went to the Northampton Town club on loan [3] . Two days later he made his debut in the line-up of shoemakers in a match against Bradford City [4] . He played for Northampton until February 2012, scoring 6 goals in 14 matches.

On February 9, 2012 he again went to the rental, this time to the Brentford club [5] . In Brentford, Berakhino spent 7 matches and scored 4 goals, after which he returned to West Bromwich on April 3, 2012 [6] .

On August 28, 2012, Berakhino made his debut for West Bromwich Albion in the Football League Cup match against Yeovil Town [7] . October 1 of the same year went to rent in Peterborough United [8] . In the lease, he played 10 matches and scored 2 goals.

On August 27, 2013, Berakhino first appeared in the starting lineup of West Bromwich in the Football League Cup match against Newport County . In this game, he was marked with a hat-trick [9] . September 1 made his debut in the Premier League, coming on as a substitute in the match against Swansea City [10] . September 28 scored his first goal in the Premier League in a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford , thanks to which West Brom made a sensational victory over England champion with a score of 2: 1 [11] .

In the summer of 2015, Tottenham Hotspur offered £ 21 million for the attacker [13] , but West Bromwich rejected the transfer offer, [14] and the player himself said that he would never play for West Bromwich again [15] . In September 2015, Berakhino resumed training with West Brom [16] .

On January 20, 2017, Berakhino officially became a Stoke City player. The amount of transfer was 12 million pounds. The contract was concluded for 5.5 years [17] .

Career in the national team

Berahino played for England teams of different ages: up to 16, up to 17, up to 18, up to 19, up to 20 years and up to 21 years [18] . In August 2013 he received a call to the youth team of England for the match against Scotland on August 13 [19] . His debut in the youth team of England took place on September 5, 2013 in a match against Moldova , in which he scored the only goal and brought victory to the British [20] . November 14, Berahino scored two goals in the match against the youth national team of Finland . In August 2018, Seido received permission from FIFA to play for the national team of Burundi . He made his debut on September 8 in the qualifying match of the African Cup-2019 against Gabon , equalizing the score in the match.
