History
XX century
Popular teen-oriented music began to spread in the late swing era, in the late 1940s, and Frank Sinatra was an early teen idol . The beginning of the 1960s became known as the “Golden Age” for teen idols, among whom were Paul Anca , Fabian Forte , Ricky Nelson and Frankie Avalon . In the 1970s, the Osmonds family band was one of the most popular pop artists. Other successful singers and groups in this sub-genre were: Bobby Sherman , The Brady Bunch , The Jackson 5 (along with lead singer Michael Jackson ) and Bee Gees .
The first big wave of Tin-Pop, after the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s, came in the mid-to-late 1980s, with such artists as Menudo , Debbie Gibson , Tiffany and New Kids on the Block . In the early 1990s, tin-pop dominated the charts until, at the end of 1991, grunge and gangsta rap went mainstream in North America. At that time, Tinpop remained popular in the UK , and its main representative was the Take That boy band , but the Brit-pop wave in the mid-1990s eclipsed Tinpop, just as grunge did in North America.
In 1996, the Spice Girls girl band released their single " Wannabe ", which made them the main pop stars in the UK, and the following year in the United States. Following them, other ting-pop bands and singers gained fame, including Hanson , Backstreet Boys , 'N Sync , Robin and All Saints . In 1999, the appearance on the scene of successful Tin-Pop singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera marked the development of what Allmusic called the trend "pop Lolita", short careers of pop singers such as Will Ford and Jamie-Lynn Sigler began to flare up.
XXI century
Since the mid-2000s, many teenagers have built a career through participation in various Disney projects, among them: Miley Cyrus , Selena Gomez , Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers .
