Khonsar [1] ( pers. فریدونشهر ) is a city in central Iran , in the province of Isfahan . The administrative center of the same name shakhrestan .

Geography
The city is located in the western part of Isfahan, in the highlands of central Zagros , at an altitude of 2248 meters above sea level [2] . Honsar is located approximately 130 kilometers northwest of Isfahan , the provincial capital, and 273 kilometers southwest (SSW) from Tehran , the country's capital.
Population
According to the census, in 2006 the population of the city was 20,490 people [3] ; Persians (carriers of one of the Central Iranian dialects of Honsari ) predominate in the national composition.
Transport
The nearest airport is Eliguders , 32 km west of Honsar [2] .
