Career
Gennady Tarasov was born in the capital of Tatarstan, Kazan in March 1946. From childhood, he became interested in figure skating, performed in solo skating . He was a prize-winner of the Volga zone, participated in the 1971 Spartakiad of the Peoples of the RSFSR, USSR.
Since 1969, he began working as a coach in Kazan. In 1976 he graduated in absentia from the Perm Pedagogical Institute with a degree in trainer. He worked as a trainer until his death in 2005. In 1979, his student Alexander Fadeev became the bronze medalist of the junior world championship , and the next year became the world champion among juniors. Immediately Fadeev was transferred to Moscow , Tarasov continued to raise young people.
Among his famous students, besides Fadeev, this is the silver medalist in 2013 of the winter Universiade, Yevgeny Tarasov .
Memory
Since 2006 in Kazan the All-Russian Idel competition has been held annually, dedicated to the memory of Gennady Sergeyevich Tarasov [1] .
