Amblyomma australiense

Amblyomma australiense (lat.) - a species of ticks of the genus Amblyomma from the family Ixodidae . Endemic to Australia : Western Australia, Northern Territories and Queensland. They parasitize mainly on the echidna Tachyglossus aculeatus , and are also found on lizards and snakes. In males, the dorsal rigid shield covers the entire body, in females, a third [1] [2] [3] .
