Tarasova, Evgenia Maksimovna

Evgenia Maksimovna Tarasova (born December 17, 1994 in Kazan , Tatarstan , Russia ) is a Russian figure skater in pairs skating with Vladimir Morozov . Together they are silver medalists of the 2018 Olympic Games in team competitions, two-time silver medals ( 2018 , 2019 ) and bronze ( 2017 ) medalists of the World Cup, winners ( 2016 ) and bronze medalists ( 2018 ) of the Grand Prix finals, two-time European champions ( 2017 , 2018 ), silver ( 2019 ), two-time bronze medalists of the European Championship ( 2015 , 2016 ), silver medalists of the Winter Universiade in 2013 , two-time silver medalists of the junior championship (2014), multiple medalists of the Russian championships and Russian champions among juniors in 2014. Career

Initial Stage

Evgenia Tarasova was born on December 17, 1994 in Kazan and at the age of four she began to engage in figure skating. Her first coach was Gennady Tarasov , after his death, she trained with Vyacheslav Golovlev. She was one of the most successful lone skaters of Tatarstan. Member of the junior national team of Russia, in 2008 in Belarus participated in the junior Grand Prix tournament, where she was fourth. In 2009, she took part in the Russian championship among singles and took twelfth place. After leaving in 2010, she moved from single skating to Moscow to the pair skating group.

In 2010, she paired up with Yegor Chudin. The couple trained under the guidance of Andrey Hekalo and since 2011 they are members of the Russian team. At the end of 2011, Chudin decided to focus on work in ice shows, the couple broke up.

In the spring of 2012, Tarasova paired up with Vladimir Morozov, now they worked for the former Ukrainian figure skater Stanislav Morozov , the couple again became part of the Russian team. In the 2012/2013 season, the couple won the Warsaw Cup participated in both (junior and adult) championships of Russia, where they were second and fifth. At the 2013 World Youth Championships, the couple was in fifth place. In 2013, they performed in the final of the Junior Grand Prix and stopped a step away from the podium [5] . After that, the couple was included in the national team for the winter Universiade in Italy . Athletes performed well, having improved all their indicators and taking second place [6] .

But the Russian championship was affected by the tight start schedule in December (the third in 3.5 weeks). After a short program, the couple took third place (simultaneously improving their achievement), but in the free program, Vladimir made two drops, and in the end he dropped his partner with support [7] [8] . The result is the last place in the free program [9] . A month later, the couple performed at the junior championship of Russia and won it [10] . Then they went to the Junior World Cup in Bulgaria , where they managed to win silver medals [11] .

Post-Junior Period

In the autumn after the Olympic year, Andrei Hekalo [12] and the five-time world champion, former German figure skater Robin Sholkov [13], began to work with the couple again. At the first competitions under their leadership in the new season, the couple improved all three of their achievements [14] . A month later, the couple successfully debuted at the adult Grand Prix in Canada , where they took third place [15] . Then the couple performed at the Russian stage of the Grand Prix, where after a short program they went second, again improving sports performance. On the second day, the partner made several mistakes in an arbitrary, but the couple managed to stay in second place [16] . In the Russian championship at the end of 2014, after a short program, the couple was in 3rd place. They perfectly skated an arbitrary one (which they won) and turned out to be vice-champions in the sum of places [17] . This contributed to their inclusion in the national team for the European championship in Stockholm . After a short program, the couple took fifth place, but, having successfully completed an arbitrary program, moved to third place in the end [18] . Along the way, achievements in the free program and amount were exceeded. At the World Championships in Shanghai, debutants were in 6th place, once again improving all previous sports achievements [19] .

The couple began the new season at the Nepel Memorial Tournament, where they finished third. Moreover, they were in the lead after a short program [20] . At the end of October, the couple performed at the stage of the Skate Canada Grand Prix series , taking second place and improving all their sports achievements [21] . Then the couple performed at the Trophée Bompard Grand Prix stage, however, after short programs, the competitions were canceled for safety reasons (a series of terrorist attacks took place in the French capital). In early December, athletes won the tournament in Zagreb and improved their previous achievements in the short program. At the national championship, skaters fought for second place and lost a few hundredths [22] . The skaters did not fall to the European championship in Bratislava and were only spare. However, the two best Russian couples could not go to the tournament due to injuries, and the skaters went to the continental championship, repeating last year’s achievement and winning the bronze medal. In early April, in Boston, the Russian couple managed to take fifth place in the world championship [23] . Sporting achievements in the short program and amount have been improved.

The couple began the pre-Olympic season in Slovakia at the Nepel Memorial , which they confidently won [24] . In mid-October, Russian skaters performed at the Grand Prix stage in Chicago , where they took third place at the America's Cup , while achievements in the short program were improved (after which they went in first place) [25] . In mid-November, the skaters performed at the Grand Prix stage in Paris , where they finished second in the Trophée de France tournament, while they surpassed their previous achievements in the short program and total [26] . This allowed them to reach the Grand Prix finals in Marseille for the first time. In France , in the final, they became champions, having improved all previous achievements [27] . At the end of December, skaters performed in Chelyabinsk at the Russian Championship , where they lost the gold medal in a bitter struggle [28] . In late January, a couple in a bitter struggle at the European Championship in Ostrava , for the first time became champions, while the Russians improved all their previous achievements [29] . At the end of March, Russian greenhouses appeared at the world championships in Helsinki , where they won the medal (bronze) for the first time [30] . At the same time, they were able to contribute to the conquest of three trips for their country to the Olympic Games. Before a short program in training, Tarasova received a leg injury and she was stitched. In the Olympic season

At the end of September, the Russian couple began a new Olympic season in Obersdorf , where at the Nebelhorn tournament , they finished in first place [33] . At the same time, they slightly improved their previous achievements in the free program. In mid-November, the couple performed at the French Grand Prix stage, where they won first place [35] . This allowed them to reach the Grand Prix Final . At the Final in Nagoya, the couple performed not quite successfully and took the penultimate place, the free program was a failure [36] . At the national championship in mid-December in St. Petersburg, the couple in a bitter struggle for the first time became champions [37] . In Moscow in the continental championship in mid-January, the Russian couple won a bitter struggle for the second time in a row won gold medals [38] . They also exceeded their previous achievement in the free program.

At the Olympic Games in Korea, Evgenia won a silver medal in team competition as part of a team of Olympic athletes from Russia . They won the short program, but in the free program were replaced. In individual competitions among sports couples, Tarasova and Morozov took fourth place and exceeded their previous achievements in the short program. At the World Championships in Milan, the couple won silver medals.

New Olympic cycle

The couple began the season in Oberstdorf, Germany, at the Nebelhorn Trophy tournament , where they won.
