Tony Award for Best Musical - American Theater Award, awarded by the American Theater Wing Foundation and the Broadway League »The best new musical staged on Broadway . For the first time, an award in this category was awarded in 1949. The award received its name in honor of the actress, director and co-founder of the American Theater Wing Foundation Antoinette "Tony" Perry.
