Geographical position
The village of Dankovo is located approximately 15 km north-west from the center of Kasimov . The nearest settlements are the village of Vyrkovo to the east, the village of Kletino and the village of Syntul to the south and the village of Gus-Zhelezny to the west.
History
The village of Dankovo as a pogost is mentioned in the list of Vladimir scribal books of Prince Vasily Krapotkin in 1637 [2] . The village was also called Nativity-Forest under the name of the church. In 1905, the village belonged to the Syntul volost of Kasimov district and had 19 households with a population of 126 people [3] .

Transport and communications
The village is located one kilometer from the P105 with regular bus service.
The village of Dankovo is served by the rural post office of Mimishkino (index 391337).
Religion
The first wooden church of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Dankovo was built in the 17th century. In 1794, a new one was built at the expense of the parishioners on the site of the dilapidated old church [2] .
In 1961, the church was closed. Reopened in the early 90s of the XX century. The first parish priest who restored the dilapidated church after the closure was the priestly Cyril (Epifanov) , who served in the church until 1995.
As of 2014, the parish belongs to the first Kasimov dean of the Kasimov diocese .
Attractions
The wooden church of the Nativity of Christ located in the village is recognized as an architectural monument of federal importance [6] .
To the north-west of the village is a monument of nature - forest karst dip Terrible ravine [7] .
