The Principality of Sasayama ( 篠山藩 Sasayama Khan ) is a feudal principality ( khan ) in Japan of the Edo period ( 1608 - 1871 ), in the Tamba province of the Sanindo region on the island of Honshu (modern Hyogo Prefecture ).

The administrative center of the principality: Sasayama Castle (modern city of Sasayama , Hyogo Prefecture ).

  • 1608-1871 - 50,000 coca rice

The Principality of Sasayama was founded in 1609 . The first ruler was Matsudaira (Matsui) Yasushige ( 1568 - 1640 ), who previously owned the Yaki Khan (province of Tamba ). In 1619, Yasushige was transferred to Kishiwada Khan ( Izumi Province).

In 1619, Matsudaira Nobuyoshi ( 1580 - 1620 ), the former ruler of Takasaki Khan, was transferred to Sasayama Khan . In 1620, he was succeeded by the eldest son of Matsudaira Tadakuni ( 1597 - 1659 ). In 1649 he was transferred to Akashi Khan ( Harima Province ).

In 1649 - 1748, the Sasayama Khan was owned by the Matsudaira clan (branch of Katanohar) . In 1649, Matsudaira Yasunobu (1600-1682) was transferred from Takatsuki Khan to Sasayama. His descendants ruled the khan until 1748 . The fifth daimyo Matsudaira Nobumine (1696-1763) in 1748 was transferred to Kameyama Khan ( Tamba province).

In 1748 - 1871, the principality of Aoyama ruled the principality. In 1748, Aoyama Tadatomo ( 1708 - 1760 ), the former ruler of Kameyama Khan, was transferred to Sasayama Khan. His descendants owned the khan until 1871 .

Sasayama Khan was liquidated in 1871 . The territory of the khan briefly became part of Toyoka Prefecture, and in 1876 became part of Hyogo Prefecture .
