Biography
Born on February 4, 1927 in the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov Region in a working class family. Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1956. He graduated from high school in the city of Rossosh, Voronezh region .
In the Red / Soviet Army since 1945. In 1950 he graduated from the Armavir Military Aviation School of Pilots. He served in fighter aircraft. Since 1960, at the flight test work at the aircraft factory (now PAO NAZ Sokol ) in the city of Gorky.
Once at an altitude of 9,000 meters the engine stopped, 2,000 meters the plane crashed, but the pilot managed to start the engine and landed successfully. There was a case when at high altitude the speed and altitude instruments failed, and then a number of turbine blades suddenly broke. In such extreme situations, B. I. Ryabtsev always acted professionally, calmly, sought to save not only himself, but also the plane. This manifested his experience, knowledge and character.
On October 9, 1964, the senior test pilot, 1st-class military pilot, Major Boris Ryabtsev, performed a test flight on the MiG-21 PPS fighter. The jet engine has lost traction. And under the wing of the plane, the large village of Vysokovo (Sormovsky district of the city of Gorky) with kindergartens, schools, residential buildings ... And he complied with the order to eject from the ground only when he passed the outskirts of the village. At low altitude the parachute did not manage to open.
He was buried in the hero city of Moscow at the Rogozhsky cemetery.
The title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Boris Ivanovich Ryabtsev was awarded posthumously by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 31, 1964 for courage, bravery and heroism shown in the performance of military duty.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , medals.
Memory
- In the city of Rossosh, a street was named after B. I. Ryabtsev, and a bust of the Hero was installed in the square near the high school where he studied. Also, his name is MBOU secondary school No. 25 with UIOP Rossosh.
- In the city of Nizhny Novgorod (formerly Gorky), the street (formerly Voroshilova, formerly Ramenskaya) was named after Ryabtsev.
